SEDONA, AZ

This was our second “just the two of us” vacation since December 2019. In February 2020 we decided to do a staycation-I’m pretty sure if we had known what was coming down the pike we would have done something vastly different! September 2020 vacation was a week in the North Georgia mountains in our brand new travel trailer-we had a blast!! We liked it so much we went back for Thanksgiving and had another great time with our family.

However, for February 2021 vacation we were ready to go farther from home. We had plenty of options of places to go and stay but making the wise logical choice made picking our destination an adventure in and of itself. We decided on Sedona, AZ-a destination we had visited 31 years ago and were excited to see again. Warm weather, sunny skies, low humidity, beautiful scenery and plenty to do made it the best place for us!

Once the reservation for accommodations at Sedona Summit Resort was made the research commenced. The place we stayed had a full kitchen making it possible for us to have some of our meals in; mostly breakfast and lunch. Last year we made a lifestyle change which included cutting sugar out of our diet and eating almost exclusively organic food. So now when I research restaurants it is not only important that the food is delicious and the service is good but where the food comes from and how it is grown is important. Next on my agenda was finding things to do. We chose Sedona partly because it is a premier hiking destination which is something we love to do together. Finding information on hiking in Sedona is easy; whether doing an internet search, checking TripAdvisor or going to the Visit Sedona website there is plenty of information available. While shopping is not high on our priority list we do like to wander in and out of little boutiques and see what different locations have to offer. I also checked out a few different tour companies in case we wanted to partake in a different activity.

I don’t spend a lot of time on car rental decisions; it is usually purely based on price. I belong to the loyalty programs of Avis, Hertz and Enterprise because it provides a faster more efficient rental experience by not having to wait in line to pick up my car. This time Avis had the best rate and we drove a Toyota 4Runner for the week-very nice!

Here is the overview of our vacation-where we stayed, hiked, ate, and shopped. Each topic will have its own blog post with lots more details!
